Pevensey & Westham
JFC had good reason for a double celebration at their
Annual Awards Presentation Evening at the Winter Garden
on 7 July. As well as celebrating another successful year
with the U10s, U13s and U15s winning their Divisions, the
U9s White finishing runners up and the U13s runners up in
the Invitation Trophy, they were also awarded the status of
Charter Standard Development Club by the Football Association,
a huge achievement for what started out as a small village
Club just 8 years ago. The Charter Standard Scheme is a best
practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration
and child protection for Clubs working with young people and
is a benchmark for quality. The award was presented to the
Chairman, Emma Larkin by Kevin Tharme of The Sussex County
FA. Mrs Larkin said 'We are thrilled to have achieved not
only the status of Charter Standard but also of Development
Club. This Award reflects a lot of time and hard work that
has been put in by many people at the Club, ensuring we have
all the policies in place as required by the FA.
The Club's aim has always
been to provide quality coaching to children in a positive
environment and this will remain the case for many years to
come'. The presentation was followed by a short DVD of the
Club's history which was well received. Special thanks were
given to Emma Larkin, Andrea Fear and Sharon Saunders for
all their hard work for the Club.
Pevensey & Westham JFC has
become an increasingly popular Club with over 100 boys and
girls registered from U6s to U15s, yet it manages to maintain
a community feel within the Club, further boosting its popularity.
The Club enjoys strong links with SAFA
(Southern Association Football Academy), several of whose
coaches were on hand to congratulate the Club. Jim Colston,
Assistant Coaching Director said 'I would like to congratulate
Pevensey & Westham JFC on their outstanding achievement
and everyone at SAFA looks forward to further strengthening
our association with the Club in the future'.
Every child was presented with a trophy
