In
1998 John Saunders formed a children's football team
under the name of Pevensey & Westham Children's FC.
The following year, Emma Larkin formed a separate children's
team called Pevensey & Westham Eagles. These two
teams joined together to create a Club under the name of Pevensey
& Westham Junior Football Club, based at Pevensey
Recreation Ground, Wallsend Road, Pevensey, East Sussex. Pevensey
& Westham JFC has grown quite rapidly, becoming an
increasingly popular Club, yet it manages to maintain a community
feel within the Club, further boosting its popularity.
The Club enjoys strong links with SAFA (Southern Association
Football Academy), several of whose coaches assist with
team training. They also run holiday courses at Pevensey Recreation
Ground.
In July 2006, the Club was presented with the award of Charter
Standard Development Club by the Football Association.
This is a huge achievement for what started out as a small
village Club not so many years ago. (The Charter Standard
Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching,
administration and child protection for Clubs working with
young people and is a benchmark for quality). This award reflects
a lot of time and effort put in by volunteers and the Club
is committed to maintaining the standards set down by The
Football Association.
The Club's aim has always been to provide quality coaching
to children in a positive manner and we look forward to an
even brighter future. Anyone wishing to join should telephone
Emma Larkin on (01323) 472668 or Andrea Fear on
